Job Description: Horizon Resources has an excellent opportunity for a Scala Developer to work in West London for a large UK corporation – it is a permanent position with an excellent package and salary of GBP 70,000. We are currently seeking passionate and effective individuals to help grow the online business. These individuals will be self-organizing and will build on a culture of success.

As a Scala Developer you will be a disciplined professional that displays technical aptitude and will possess a level of business acumen. You will work in a dedicated product stream as part of a self-organising and empowered team (Agile). In bi-weekly iterations using Extreme Programming you will showcase the functionality you have completed to the Product Sponsor, customers and stakeholders and deliver high-quality working software to a production environment.

As a Software Developer you’ll be knowledgeable and passionate about technology, enjoy pairing with other smart people and use agile to ensure your projects succeed. You will have the freedom to promote new and exciting technologies to the development stack.

Responsibilites:

  • Develop excellent quality software using agile techniques such as Test Driven Development and Pair Programming
  • Take an active role in Story definition, assisting QAs and business stakeholders with Acceptance criteria
  • Help the team choose the best solution and technologies for the task in hand
  • Take a pro-active role with production issues and release management
  • Contribute to the technical direction of the team
  • Participate in regular showcases of new work to the product owners and business stakeholders
  • Strive for continuous improvement within the team

Skills:

  • Experience developing with both Java and Scala
  • Knowledge and experience of a wide range of best of breed open source and commercial technologies
  • Experience of software development for high capacity, high traffic, high availability websites/systems
  • Delivery experience within an agile project is essential
  • TDD experience
